Minnesota Potato Production Up, Crop Value Unchanged



Minnesota potato production in 2020 totaled 17.9 million cwt, up 77,000 cwt from 2019, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service -- Potatoes 2020 Summary.

The state's potato growers planted 42,000 acres, down 4,000 acres from 2019. Harvested acres in 2020 were reported at 41,200, down 1,800 acres from the previous year. Average yield per acre, at 435 cwt, was up 5 percent from the previous year.

Price per cwt remained unchanged from the previous year's $10.90 per cwt. Total value of production of the state's potato crop was up slightly from 2019 to 2020 with an increase of $839,000.
