Minnesota Reports First Case of Avian Influenza in 4 Months

A reprieve from cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Minnesota is over.

Officials with USDA and the state department of agriculture confirmed the presence of the virus in a backyard flock in Le Sueur County, marking the first case of avian flu in four months.

Senior Poultry Veterinarian Dr. Shauna Voss says they’ve been anticipating the return of high-path AI and are recalling partner resources.
