When it's that time of the year for the Minnesota State Fair, a multitude of attractions await. From the symphony of sights and sounds to the tantalizing aromas, it's truly a sensory delight. Here’s how to make the most of it-
When to Visit:
This year, the Fair is in session from Aug. 24 to Sept. 4. Most days, it's open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. But do remember that on Labor Day, it wraps up a bit earlier at 9 p.m.
Getting Your Ticket:
Numerous ticketing options cater to everyone. While mobile tickets ensure smooth entry, you can also print them at home or even opt for a traditional mail delivery. Pre-fair tickets are available for $15. If you decide to purchase at the State Fairground Ticket Office, they’re $18. Don't forget: youngsters below the age of five enter for free!
Transportation Tips:
Avoid the fuss of parking by choosing Metro Transit's special fair rides. These rides, costing between $5 to $6, offer convenient transit to and from the fairgrounds from selected Park & Ride locations. Whether it's weekday or weekend, the service is punctual, starting early morning and wrapping up at midnight. The only exception is Labor Day, when buses conclude service at 11 p.m.
Keep it Light:
While excitement may tempt you to pack all essentials, the fair has some restrictions. Items like weapons, explosives, alcoholic beverages, drones, and certain rideables (skateboards, bikes, etc.) aren’t permitted. Also, while pets might love a day out, only service dogs are allowed.
Experience the Minnesota State Fair with a Skyride, Space Tower, Great Big Wheel, Giant Slide & Ye Old Mill, Sweet Treats, Classic Eats, Discover Farm Life, and Music Galore. Enjoy panoramic fair views, pocket-friendly vantage points, and unique experiences like Sweet Martha's cookies, Corn Dogs, and Pronto Pups. Discover farm life and discover new music gems at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell.
With this guide, you’re well-prepared to dive deep into the essence of the Minnesota State Fair and create lasting memories.
