Minnesota's New Workshop Empowers Young Farmers in Business

Minnesota's New Workshop Empowers Young Farmers in Business

The journey of venturing into farming as a business is about to become clearer for Minnesota's young and budding farmers. A dedicated workshop series titled the "Minnesota Beginner Farmer Institute" is set to guide them. Spanning over two months and segmented into four sessions, these interactive classes will unlock insights into effective farm management.

Questions about drafting business plans, understanding loan requirements, optimizing business deductions, and determining the best time for grain marketing are some focal points. By participating, attendees can deepen their knowledge in areas such as business planning, understanding taxes, financial statements, record keeping, and more.

The University of Minnesota's agricultural business specialist, Nathan Hulinsky, emphasizes the importance of financial proficiency. Through this workshop series, participants will glean clearer perspectives on farm finances and business goals to ensure consistent profitability.

The excitement isn't confined to one location. Four distinct spots in Minnesota will host these sessions. Adding to the convenience, there's no fee, and participants will also enjoy a complimentary lunch. Timings are set from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and for those in Owatonna, sessions are slated for Nov. 21, 28, Dec. 5, and 12.

Those eager to start their farm business journey can register for free at z.umn.edu/BF23.

Remember, while the doors to knowledge open at 9:30 a.m., prior registration is essential.
