Many farmers in the Upper Midwest are still weeks away from beginning fieldwork.
Mikayla Tabert of Red Lake Falls in northwest Minnesota says winter seems to be hanging on with a snow storm as recently as last week.
“We’re a long ways out. I think we’re two and-a-half weeks before we’re even starting anything. We’ve still got snow in ditches for sure.”
Tabert grows corn, soybeans, wheat, canola, and sunflowers.
She tells Brownfield soil temperatures are probably in the low 40’s.
