Riley Ward Aims for Princess Kay Crown at Minnesota State Fair

Minnesota is preparing for the crowning of Princess Kay of the Milky Way at the State Fair, with Riley Ward as a standout finalist. Princess Kay serves as a goodwill ambassador for dairy farmers, educating the public about their nutritional benefits and environmental dedication.

Riley Ward, daughter of Randy and Minnie Ward, comes from a farming background with a custom-heifer-raising facility that has evolved with advanced feeding systems and a state-of-the-art barn.

Riley, studying economics at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, is passionate about the dairy sector and its benefits. Her forte lies in interactions between athletes and chocolate milk, as well as adults recognizing its advantages.

The excitement culminates with the coronation ceremony on Wednesday, August 23, at Falcon Heights' State Fair Leinie Lodge Bandshell Stage. Following the crowning, a unique tradition unfolds. Each finalist, including the newly crowned Princess Kay, will see their likeness carved in butter.

This spectacle runs from Thursday, August 24, through Sunday, September 3, where visitors can witness the magic unfold in the Dairy Building.

In addition to the butter sculpting, Princess Kay and the finalists will share dairy insights at Midwest Dairy's educational area. Their stories, coupled with answers to curious questions, aim to enlighten fairgoers on dairy's pivotal role in global nutrition.

For those who can't be there in person, virtual updates are available. Princess Kay's Facebook page will broadcast the coronation and also feature regular butter sculpture updates, ensuring enthusiasts stay in the loop.
