The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) has announced the availability of physical loss loans for farmers in Minnesota who suffered damages during 2025 weather disasters. These loans are designed to help producers repair or replace property essential to their agricultural operations, including buildings, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, stored crops, and hay.
A series of disasters in 2025 triggered eligibility across multiple counties. Farmers in both primary and neighboring counties may apply. All applications are due by April 13, 2026.
The approved disasters include:
- High winds on May 15, 2025 (N1865): Eligible counties include Douglas and nearby Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stearns, Stevens, and Todd.
- High winds May 19–20, 2025 (N1866): Cottonwood and Jackson counties, along with surrounding counties in Minnesota and Iowa.
- Hail and high winds on June 2, 2025 (N1867): Renville and Stevens, with surrounding counties also eligible.
- High winds on June 2, 2025 (N1868): Brown and Pope counties and their neighboring counties.
- Tornado on June 16, 2025 (N1869): Cass and Crow Wing counties and nearby counties.
- Excessive rain and flash flooding June 12–14, 2025 (N1870): Big Stone and neighboring counties in Minnesota and South Dakota.
- High winds June 20–21, 2025 (N1871): Becker, Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Mahnomen, and Norman counties, plus nearby counties in Minnesota and North Dakota.
- Hail and high winds June 19–20, 2025 (N1872): Douglas, Stearns, and Todd counties and surrounding areas.
The loans provide critical financial support for farmers working to recover from severe weather damages. By replacing or repairing essential property, the program helps ensure that operations can continue.
Farmers are encouraged to contact their local FSA office for application details and assistance.
