2025 Minnesota Herd Program Kicks Off

2025 Minnesota Herd Program Kicks Off

By Scout Nelson

The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) has revealed the third class of its “The Herd” program, aimed at members aged 18-23. The Herd program allows these young individuals to explore agriculture through social media and hands-on experiences. By participating, they gain valuable skills in agriculture communication, networking, and industry knowledge. This year’s selected members will engage in the program for one year, starting this summer.

The 2025 class includes five members, each bringing their unique experiences and passion for agriculture. The members were chosen based on their enthusiasm for agriculture and their desire to share their knowledge with others, particularly through digital platforms.

The program’s goal is to help young adults build their skills while advocating for agriculture. Many members come from diverse backgrounds and bring fresh perspectives on agricultural communication. They will have opportunities to work with industry professionals and build connections with other advocates in the field.

The Herd members’ experiences will include networking with professionals, attending educational sessions, and participating in community outreach activities. Through social media, they will share their journey, spread awareness of agriculture, and connect with a broader audience. This program aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities by giving participants the tools to inform others about agriculture's importance in daily life.

The Herd program is a crucial step in engaging the next generation of agriculture advocates, preparing them to be the voices that represent agriculture to the wider public.
