The 2025 fair season has wrapped up, and excitement is already building for the 2026 Minnesota 4 H plant science projects. Organizers encourage participants to begin planning early to create memorable exhibits and experiences for the next state fair.
“The 2025 fair season has come to a close - can you believe it?” begins the invitation. “With the state fair just wrapped up, it’s time to start dreaming and planning your next big plant science project for 2026!”
Early planning is essential. Some projects must be selected in the fall or spring at harvest time, making now the perfect moment to decide on themes and gather materials. Whether it is growing unique plants, experimenting with soil health, or designing a display of native flowers, preparation ensures success.
“Bringing a sample for your exhibit? Plan! Some projects need to be chosen in the fall or spring at harvest time.”
Living in a city or without access to farmland does not limit participation. “Don’t live on a farm? No worries! You can still dive into plant science by partnering with a local farmer. Build a connection, ask questions, and learn about how crops are grown straight from the source.”
Helpful tools make the journey easier. “Need inspiration? Check out the Minnesota 4 H plant science handbook and the plant science project resource guide to help your project take root and grow into something amazing for next year’s fair.”
Online resources provide even more ideas. “Don't forget to use the 4 H plant science web page for more ideas and opportunities. Start your 2026 Minnesota 4 H plant science project journey today!”
By planning now and using these guides, youth can create innovative exhibits, learn valuable science skills, and celebrate the wonders of plants at the 2026 Minnesota State Fair.
