4-H in Kandiyohi County is hosting a free and educational Sheep Project Day for youth interested in animal science. The event will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. CDT in Renville, Minnesota. This program is open to youth of all experience levels, making it a great opportunity for beginners as well as those with prior knowledge.
During the event, participants learn the basics of sheep breeding, including how lambs are produced. The session also introduces advanced techniques such as artificial insemination and embryo transfer. These topics help youth understand both traditional and modern practices used in livestock management.
The session is led by Brady Meyers, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Riverside Animal Clinic in Springfield, Minnesota. He shares expert knowledge and answers questions to help youth better understand animal care and breeding methods. This interactive learning environment encourages participants to explore new skills and gain confidence in their projects.
This event supports youth who are interested in agriculture and livestock education. It also helps build important skills that can be used in future 4-H projects or careers in agriculture. By attending, participants gain hands-on knowledge and connect with others who share similar interests.
Registration is required and must be completed by May 8. Participants can register online using the official link here.
The program is offered at no cost, making it accessible to all interested youth. It is delivered in English, and interpreter services may be available with advance notice. Organizers are also committed to providing equal opportunities for all participants, including accommodations for individuals with disabilities if requested in advance.
For additional information, participants can contact the event organizer Kylee Sherod via email-shero018@umn.edu. This event provides a valuable learning experience and helps support the next generation of agricultural leaders.
