Join the University of Minnesota Extension for the Winter Crops Day and Small Grains Program on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with check-in starting at 8:30 a.m.

- Winter Crops Day Presentations: 9:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
- Lunch Break: 12:15 – 12:45 p.m.
- Agency Program Updates: 12:45 – 1:00 p.m.
- Southern Small Grains Program: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Program Details
The morning session will feature experts discussing various topics related to corn and soybean production. Garen Paulson, an Extension Educator in Agricultural Business Management, will explore whether corn can be grown for $4 and soybeans for $10. Dr. Anna Cates, a Soil Health Specialist, will discuss predicting corn nitrogen needs using biological testing. Liz Stahl, an Extension Educator in Crops, will provide updates on pest management, followed by Dr. Dan Kaiser, a Nutrient Management Specialist, who will address managing phosphorus and potassium under economic challenges.
The afternoon session, led by Dr. Jochum Wiersma, a Small Grains Specialist, will focus on small grain production, variety selection, and agronomic practices. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions on grain farming advancements.
This event is beneficial for farmers, agronomists, and agricultural professionals interested in the latest research on corn, soybean, and small grain management. The morning session will emphasize corn and soybean production, while the afternoon session will delve into small grains.
