Minnesota continues to celebrate its agricultural legacy and tradition by announcing 77 farms as 2025 Century Farm recipients. These farms have maintained continuous family ownership for at least 100 years and are 50 acres or more in size.
The Century Farm recognition is a joint initiative by the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau. Since its launch in 1976, the program has recognized over 11,000 family farms for their century-long commitment to farming and community contribution.
To qualify as a Century Farm, three criteria must be met:
- The farm must be at least 100 years old, based on official land records.
- It must have been continuously owned by the same family for a century, although living on the farm is not required.
- The property must span at least 50 acres and be actively used for agricultural production.
Each honoured farm family receives a certificate signed by the presidents of the Minnesota Farm Bureau and the State Fair, along with a commemorative sign.
Farms across Minnesota’s counties—from Becker to Waseca—have been named this year, each with its own unique history and year of origin ranging from the 1860s to 1925. This award highlights the vital role of multi-generational farms in shaping Minnesota’s rural communities and economy.
Information on all recognized Century Farms will be displayed at the Minnesota Farm Bureau exhibit during the 2025 Minnesota State Fair.
This celebration not only honors the hard work of past generations but also inspires future generations to continue the farming tradition. It reflects Minnesota’s pride in its rich agricultural roots and strong family values.
