The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) has recognized 46 family farms across the state with the 2025 Sesquicentennial Farm award. These farms have maintained continuous family ownership and active involvement in agriculture for at least 150 years.
To qualify, a farm must be 50 acres or larger, in continuous family ownership for 150 years or more, and actively engaged in agricultural production. Since the program started in 2008, 623 farms have received this prestigious honor.
Each awardee receives a commemorative certificate signed by Governor Tim Walz, Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen, and MFBF President Dan Glessing. Honorees also receive a special outdoor sign to proudly display their Sesquicentennial status.
A public display listing all Century and Sesquicentennial Farms will be showcased in the Minnesota Farm Bureau building during the 2025 Minnesota State Fair. This display highlights the importance of farm heritage and generational commitment to agriculture.
Farms from counties across Minnesota are included in this year’s honors, with recognitions in Blue Earth, Carver, Chippewa, Dakota, Faribault, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Isanti, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Le Sueur, Lincoln, Meeker, Mower, Otter Tail, Pope, Rice, Rock, Sibley, Stearns, Steele, Washington, Watonwan, Wright, and Yellow Medicine.
These recognitions reflect the legacy and resilience of Minnesota agriculture and the families who have preserved and maintained their land for over a century and a half.
The Minnesota Farm Bureau continues to advocate for agricultural sustainability and awareness, representing over 31,000 members through 78 county and regional bureaus.
