The North Dakota Department of Agriculture is hosting a free online Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Training, in conjunction with North Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota, on Feb. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m.
“This science-based training will keep producers updated with current agriculture practices that help protect the producer’s farm and their customers,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “Participants will learn practices that reduce contamination from pathogens like salmonella.
The course will also help them prepare a food safety plan and pass a GAP audit for their farm.”
The course is open to all North Dakota and Minnesota producers, but fresh produce farms are strongly encouraged to attend.

Questions about the course may be directed to Julie Garden-Robinson at North Dakota State University at 701-231-7187.
Taking the course will not result in being GAP certified. GAP certification is done by a third party such as USDA, Primus or Global GAP, and involves the successful completion of an on-farm audit.
