The University of Minnesota Extension, in partnership with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, is hosting a special event focused on safe gardening and food safety practices. This informative workshop is designed to help participants learn effective strategies for keeping their garden plants healthy and their produce safe for consumption.
The event will cover important topics such as proper watering techniques, pest and disease identification, and effective management strategies. Participants will also learn how to harvest produce safely, an essential practice to minimize the risk of foodborne illnesses.

The hands-on session will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Central Time at the JD Rivers Children's Garden, located at 2900 Glenwood Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Participants are advised to dress appropriately for gardening and the weather, as the event will proceed in light rain conditions.
The cost to attend is $5, and advance registration is required. The University of Minnesota Extension is dedicated to ensuring equal opportunity for all participants. This event will be conducted in English, but interpreter services may be available with advance notice.
