The 2024-2025 Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) FFA Discussion Meet recognized top FFA participants for their leadership and problem-solving skills in agricultural topics.
Sponsored by the MFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee, the event celebrated students' ability to engage in meaningful discussions on current agricultural issues.
The competition encourages participants to simulate a committee meeting, fostering open conversation with the goal of finding solutions to pressing challenges in agriculture. This year, sixteen regional winners competed in the finals at the conference, showcasing their communication and critical-thinking abilities.
For their achievements, the top winners received scholarships to either attend the National FFA Washington D.C. Leadership Conference or use toward furthering their education. The first-place winner was awarded a plaque for their success, presented by MFBF Leadership Coordinator Rachael Peterson.
“The Discussion Meet is just one way that Farm Bureau works alongside the FFA to develop the next generation of agriculture leaders,” said Peterson. “We continue to be impressed with the students taking part in the competition.”
Also advancing to the final four were participants from the St. James Area FFA and Brainerd FFA chapters, reflecting the strength and diversity of FFA programs across the state.
The MFBF FFA Discussion Meet highlights the importance of leadership development, providing opportunities for students to strengthen their understanding of agricultural issues and solutions. By simulating real-world discussions, the competition prepares participants to contribute meaningfully to the future of agriculture.
The event underscores the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation's commitment to empowering young leaders and fostering growth within the agricultural sector.
