Dairy producers from Minnesota have been elected to serve as leaders of the National Young Cooperators (YC) Program Advisory Council in 2025. The program provides training and leadership development for young dairy professionals, helping them navigate industry challenges and strengthen cooperative farming.
The elected leaders operate a third-generation dairy farm that manages 1,200 cows and 1,400 acres of crops. Their farm focuses on sustainability, using solar panels and advanced cow monitoring technologies to improve efficiency. They are actively engaged in the dairy community, promoting education and advocacy.
The Young Cooperators Program has supported beginning dairy producers for 75 years, offering year-round virtual and in-person training to enhance leadership skills, improve farm profitability, and strengthen resilience. Participants gain access to resources, networking opportunities, and industry insights to navigate the evolving dairy sector.
In addition to farm operations, the new leaders are involved in community outreach initiatives such as youth mentorship programs and educational events that connect dairy farms with the public. Their commitment to modern dairy farming and industry advocacy will help shape the program’s future direction.
“We are strong advocates for modern family dairy farming and look forward to working with fellow YCs to address challenges, share experiences and strengthen the dairy industry,” they said.
The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) manages the Young Cooperators Program, with support from Farm Credit, Ever.Ag, and Monument Advocacy. The program is open to dairy producers under 45 who are members of an NMPF-affiliated cooperative.
