Open Seats on Greener Pastures Board of Directors

Have you been asking yourself, "How can I make the biggest impact I can to transform our food system in a more humane, sustainable, just direction?"

Well, if you have, Greener Pastures is adding three seats to its board of directors and its looking for passionate community members who are interested in applying to serve.

The board works together to help Greener Pastures carry out its mission of helping our food system move away from factory farming and toward humane, sustainable, and just food and farms. The board makes sure resources are used wisely as a 501c(3) nonprofit and making smart decisions on how to serve the community, and supports staff in carrying out those programs.

Board candidates should be:

• Passionate about building the movement to end factory farming and committed to making our food system more humane, sustainable, and just.
• Located anywhere in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Iowa, or any of the Tribal Nations in that area.
• Interested in bringing their skills and volunteer spirit to the Board- ours is a working Board, meaning all Board Members play an active role in carrying out our work!
• Stakeholders in the communities we serve- especially folks who are sustainable farmers & homesteaders, farm workers, organizers and advocates, food service workers, and/or folks on their own ethical eating journeys ... and more.
• Skilled in an area like meeting facilitation, nonprofit management, sustainable agriculture/regenerative farming practices, farmer outreach, consumer education, communications/marketing, business development, entrepreneurship, design, photography, social media, event planning, finance/accounting, development/fundraising, legal, and/or social-emotional team skills ... and more.
• Committed to addressing racial injustice and white supremacy in our food system and ensuring Greener Pastures carries out its work in an equitable manner. Individuals of all racial, ethnic, religious, sexual and gender identities, and other historically marginalized groups are encouraged to apply.
• Available to make a 2-year commitment to serving on our Board, serving 10-15 hours per month and attending bi-monthly Board meetings remotely.
• Excited and eager to serve! It's okay if you've never served on a Board before- or if you don't think you're the "ideal candidate."

For those who want to serve but for whom doing so would be an economic hardship, the board is willing to consider a stipend to reduce barriers to serving.
