Minnesota corn production is forecast at 1.43 billion bushels, up 3 percent from the previous year, according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service -- Crop Production report. Based on conditions as of September 1, yields are expected to average 190.0 bushels per acre, down 3.0 bushels from the August 1 forecast but up 12.0 bushels from last year. Corn planted acreage is estimated at 8.05 million acres. An estimated 7.55 million of the acres planted will be harvested for grain, down 150,000 acres from the previous forecast. Acreage updates were made based on a thorough review of all available data.
Soybean production is forecast at 369 million bushels, up 4 percent from 2021. The yield is forecast at 50.0 bushels per acre, unchanged from the August forecast but 3.0 bushels higher than 2021. Soybean planted acreage is estimated at 7.45 million acres. An estimated 7.38 million of the acres planted will be harvested, down 50,000 acres from the previous forecast. Acreage updates were made based on a thorough review of all available data.
Sugarbeet production is forecast at 11.3 million tons, down 8 percent from the previous year. The yield is forecast at 25.8 tons per acre, 0.4 ton above the August forecast but 5.2 tons below 2021. Sugarbeet planted acreage is estimated at 440,000 acres. An estimated 438,000 of the acres planted will be harvested, down 3,000 acres from the previous forecast. Acreage updates were made based on a thorough review of all available data.
