A dedicated young farming couple has been honoured as national runners-up for the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Achievement Award. This prestigious recognition was announced at the AFBF Annual Convention in San Antonio, celebrating their hard work and commitment to agriculture.
“We are honored to receive this award,” they shared. “We work hard every day to continue our family’s ranching legacy, and it’s humbling to be recognized among our peers from across the country.”
The couple operates a fourth-generation ranch known for its significant registered Angus herd and its long-standing production sale, celebrating its 50th year in 2025. Alongside their livestock operation, they cultivate hay, corn, sorghum, and oats, showcasing their diverse agricultural expertise.
As part of their award, they received a $25,000 credit toward new Case IH equipment, highlighting the tangible benefits of their achievement. Beyond their ranch, they actively engage in Farm Bureau leadership roles, serving on state and national committees. Their efforts include promoting agricultural education, community involvement, and fostering the next generation of farming leaders.
Their dedication extends beyond Farm Bureau activities, with leadership roles in organizations such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Minnesota Angus Association, and Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association. Their contributions emphasize a commitment to advancing agriculture both locally and nationally.
Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing praised their efforts, stating, “Their recognition on the national stage is a testament to the strength of the next generation of agriculture in our state.”
The Achievement Award honours excellence in farming operations, leadership skills, and community involvement, celebrating those who drive agricultural progress. This recognition reflects the couple’s commitment to preserving and innovating within the farming industry.
