Growers Vote to Continue Cranberry Marketing Order
Minnesota Ag Connection - 07/11/2019

Cranberries growers in 11 states, including Minnesota, have expressed their desire to keep the federal commodity marketing order in place for the next four years. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that producers voted overwhelmingly in favor of keeping the check-off program during a mail-in ballot referendum held in May.

The marketing order enables the industry to fund production research, marketing research, market development projects, including paid advertising, and recommend volume control regulations. It also requires a continuance referendum be held every four years to give growers the choice on whether the program should be continued.

Licensed growers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington and Long Island in the state of New York were all included in the referendum.
