Scheduled from November 14-15 at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the much-awaited 2023 Farmland Summit promises enlightening discussions for everyone involved in farming and agriculture.
Thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners from the upper Midwest will unite, focusing on important issues concerning farmland access, conservation, transfer, and more.
The first day promises a mixture of impactful speakers and panels, laying out challenges, success stories, and opportunities related to farmland dealings in both the upper Midwest and on a national scale.
There’s a strong emphasis on promoting understanding, identifying collaboration zones, and spotlighting policy gaps. An engagement with policymakers is anticipated to bolster policy support for these issues.
Day two offers a more interactive approach. Participants can anticipate participatory breakout sessions touching upon numerous topics such as:
- Emerging farmers' journey.
- Farmland succession processes.
- Equity in land access.
- Farmland ownership models.
- Financing methods and capital access for farmland.
- Strategies to ensure farmland conservation.
- Preparing financially for land dealings.
- Avenues for regional cooperation.
The summit owes its conception to the Farmland Access Hub, a collaborative endeavor to assist emerging farmers. Overseeing the organization is Renewing the Countryside. Interested parties can avail early bird registrations at $160 for two days and $85 for a single day.
Financial aid is also accessible for those in need.
