Explore Minnesota’s Great Outdoors with 4H

By Scout Nelson

The University of Minnesota Extension is inviting participants to the second annual 4-H Outdoor Education Summit on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve in East Bethel, Minnesota.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Time and will feature an engaging mix of workshops, activities, and training sessions for participants of all ages.

This family-friendly event is designed to connect youth and adults with the outdoors while building valuable life and leadership skills. The program offers diverse sessions, including Cloverbud Outdoor Skills and Stories Day Camp, Ecoregions of Minnesota, Fishing, Be an Outdoor Chef, and many more exciting topics. Adult participants can also benefit from shooting sports and wildlife certification training and guidance on coaching a 4-H WHEP team.

The event welcomes everyone — from Cloverbuds in kindergarten through second grade to adult volunteers who want to deepen their outdoor education experience. Session costs range from $0 to $10, depending on the activity, with registration opening on October 1 and closing on November 18 through 4-H Online.

Payments can be mailed to Drew Winegar at the University of Minnesota office in Grand Rapids. Participants who need assistance or special accommodation are encouraged to contact Nicole Pokorney, University of Minnesota Extension educator, at pokorney@umn.edu, at least two weeks before the event.

The 4-H Outdoor Education Summit is a unique opportunity to explore Minnesota’s natural beauty, learn hands-on outdoor skills, and connect with others who share a love for nature and community learning.
