MDA Initiates Cottage Food Educational Needs Survey

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is requesting feedback based on your interaction with existing and potential cottage food producers. Your responses will assist the MDA in identifying areas of need for Minnesota's cottage food producer community.

Specifically, the MDA is working to ensure equitable access to the Cottage Food Program information. Goals of this project include:

- Identify target audiences and languages, other than English and Spanish, in most need of resources to understand the Cottage Food Law and participate in the program.

- Determine which types of educational materials may be most beneficial, especially to communities who prefer a language besides English or Spanish.

Your input is a valuable part of this work. Please take 5-10 minutes of your time to complete the Cottage Food Educational Needs Survey at

There will also be two listening sessions available for attendance to verify the MDA's understanding of the input gathered from this survey. This process will directly impact the decisions for program prioritization and further development of resources.
Questions about this survey can be directed to Jodie Burke, MDA Licensing Liaison, Jodie.Burke@state.mn.us.
