Minnesota's agricultural future is taking shape, and you might have the chance to mold it. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has announced openings in its Emerging Farmers’ Working Group (EFWG). They're searching for eight dedicated volunteers to serve for two years.
MDA aims to make farming accessible for newcomers by reducing hurdles and providing resources. Assistant MDA Commissioner Patrice Bailey emphasizes the importance of EFWG, which identifies challenges newcomers face in agriculture. As the Emerging Farmers Office expands, EFWG's role will be crucial.
Here's your chance to influence the 2024-2025 agriculture scenario. Everyone is welcome, but MDA is particularly interested in diverse perspectives. They're reaching out to women, veterans, those with disabilities, individuals from ethnic minorities, LGBTQIA+ community, the youth (below 35), and urban residents (cities with over 5,000 residents).
Apply by September 23, 2023, before midnight for the MDA Emerging Farmer Office position.
