Meier Dairy Pasture Walk June 23 near Sauk Centre

This coming Thursday is the first of two pasture walks this summer with the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota (SFA) and Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship (DGA).

The Meier Dairy Pasture Walk will be held June 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at County Rd. 184 Sauk Centre.

Meier Dairy is organic robotic dairy, and the group will get to see how they operate. The event is free to attend. Lunch will be provided. Registration requested, walkups welcome.

Then in July, a visit is planned to the Nyquist Dairy to see how it has dealt with flooded pastures. Other topics will include facility layout, cattle lanes, and paddock arrangements. A third pasture walk will be announced for the fall.

The Nyquist Dairy Pasture Walk will be held July 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. near Cokato.

It is free to attend. Lunch is provided. Registration is requested, though walkups are welcome.

If you are interested in becoming a Mentor Grazier or Apprentice in the DGA program, or know someone who would be, contact Angie Walter at 320-815-9293 or angie@sfa-mn.org.

For more information about the pasture walks, contact Katie Feterl at SFA at (612) 961-0661 or go to www.sfa-mn.orgl
