MFBF sets sights on 2024 legislative session goals

MFBF sets sights on 2024 legislative session goals

By Scout Nelson

As Minnesota braces for the 94th session of its legislature on February 12, the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) is poised to play a crucial role. Dedicated to enhancing the state's agricultural landscape, MFBF is eager to work with elected officials on critical issues that underpin the economic success of Minnesota's farms and rural communities.

President Dan Glessing emphasizes the importance of MFBF's daily presence at the Capitol, advocating for members' interests. Key issues on the docket include the rational use and pricing of fertilizers, the availability of essential pest management tools, and the incorporation of scientific principles in water quality discussions.

What sets MFBF apart is its grassroots approach to policy development, ensuring that the organization's efforts reflect the real needs and suggestions of its members.  This bipartisan approach fosters solutions that not only benefit the agriculture sector but also contribute to the vibrancy of rural communities.

MFBF has outlined several priority areas for 2024, aiming to support both seasoned and emerging farmers, promote environmental sustainability through climate-smart practices, bolster rural communities, spur agricultural innovation through research and investment, and explore renewable energy solutions that respect farmland integrity.

MFBF invites members to join its annual Day on the Hill on March 19 (National Ag Day), an opportunity to directly convey the agricultural sector's perspectives to legislators.
