Minnesota Corn has wrapped up another successful Farmfest! Dozens of growers, policymakers, and farm families stopped by the Minnesota Corn tent during the three-day event near Redwood Falls. They learned how corn farmers are building a more prosperous future for all Minnesotans.
Visitors enjoyed free samples of sweet corn ice cream. New and renewing members of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association received “Our family farm feeds and fuels the world” signs. New this year in the Minnesota Corn tent was a plug-in hybrid concept vehicle. The project, an initiative of the Renewable Fuels Association, shows how E85 and electricity can jointly power vehicles today.
Also during Farmfest, MCGA President Richard Syverson and First Vice President Dana Allen-Tully participated in a Farm Bill listening session hosted by the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. Syverson talked about the importance of crop insurance, and Allen-Tully talked about the importance of a strong farm safety net. National Corn Growers Association President Tom Haag and First Vice President Harold Wolle, both Minnesota farmers, also talked about the importance of crop insurance and the producer safety net, as well as international market development and voluntary conservation programs.
