Minnesota couple wins national farming achievement award

By Scout Nelson

Dan and Megan Roberts, a couple from Blue Earth County, Minnesota, emerged as the first-place winners in the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award competition. This prestigious event took place during the AFBF convention from January 19-23 in Salt Lake City.

The Roberts received a substantial prize of $35,000 towards a new vehicle from the competition's sponsor, Ford, and they chose a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Delighted with their win, Dan Roberts expressed their gratitude, "It has been an honor to represent the State of Minnesota, Blue Earth County and the Minnesota Farm Bureau."

Megan Roberts also shared her excitement about their new electric vehicle, thanking the local dealership for their assistance, “We are very excited to experience our new vehicle and thank you to Madelia Ford for assisting us throughout this process!”

The Achievement Award recognizes excellence in production farming and leadership. Participants are assessed based on the growth and financial progress of their farming operations, their involvement in Farm Bureau leadership, and their leadership contributions outside of the organization.

This accolade underscores the couple's commitment to agriculture and their community, aiming to inspire other young farmers to engage in such enriching competitions.
