Renville County was the highest–ranking county for corn for grain production with 52.9 million bushels produced. Martin (45.7 million), Redwood (44.7 million), Mower (43.5 million), and Faribault (42.8 million) rounded out the top five counties with the highest production. Counties with production of more than 35 million bushels were Jackson, Freeborn, Blue Earth, Nobles, and Cottonwood.
Martin led all counties with an average yield of 224.9 bushels per acre. Dodge (221.5), Blue Earth (219.8), Mower (218.0), and Steele (217.3) counties rounded out the top five. Twenty–three counties surpassed the 200 bushel mark in 2022.
In 2022, Stearns County led all Minnesota counties in total corn silage production with 1,278,000 tons, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Stevens (662,000), Winona (403,000), Swift (382,000), and Houston (375,000) rounded out the top five highest–producing counties.
Wabasha, Mower, and Dodge Counties tied for the highest yield, with an average of 26 tons per acre harvested. Goodhue had the fourth–highest yield, at 25.5 tons per acre.
