Exciting news for those in agriculture in Minnesota! The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is welcoming applications for the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) Crop Research Grant Program. This initiative is set to bolster applied crop research, aiming to enhance agricultural product quality, quantity, or value within Minnesota’s impressive $13.5 billion crop industry.
Minnesota-based individuals, organizations, research entities, and businesses with agricultural research capabilities are eligible for funding. Projects must provide near-term benefits for Minnesota's farmers and the state economy and must include an outreach plan outlining public sharing of results.
Special focus will be given to projects researching crops that have limited access to other research funds. Projects with outreach plans showcasing significant involvement, information, or benefits for underserved agricultural producers will receive additional consideration.
This round, the MDA is poised to award approximately $1.2 million, capping the grant amount at $250,000 per proposal.
Don’t miss the deadline; ensure your applications are submitted by 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
The AGRI Program, the backbone of this grant, extends its support to farmers, agribusinesses, schools, and more across Minnesota. It plays an important role in advancing the state’s agricultural and renewable energy sectors.
