The Minnesota Farm Bureau proudly announces its first-ever Urban Ag Conference, scheduled for January 13, 2024. This free event, funded by a USDA grant, will be hosted at the Cargill Building, University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
Aimed at bridging the gap between urban and rural agricultural practices, this conference offers a unique platform for attendees to connect with state leaders, discuss pressing issues such as land and water access, and explore funding avenues. A special highlight includes a parking voucher for attendees using the Gortner Avenue Ramp.
The conference promises a day filled with enriching experiences, starting with registration at 9:30 a.m., followed by a welcome address at 10 a.m. The schedule includes various knowledge-sharing sessions, networking opportunities, and insightful talks from industry experts.
Notable speakers include Patrice Bailey from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, and Dan Glessing, President of the Minnesota Farm Bureau.
Panel discussions on land access and water usage will be led by Dr. H. Fernando Burga and Jordan Bergstrom from the University of Minnesota's CEA Lab. The event will also provide guidance on grant application and funding, with insights from USDA Farm Service Agency and Minnesota Department of Agriculture representatives.
