Recycle Shoes in Burnsville, Apple Valley, Eagan Nov. 13-19
Minnesota Ag Connection - 11/13/2017

Instead of throwing away old or unwanted shoes, residents can once again recycle them during a free one-week collection.

In honor of America Recycles Day Nov. 15, residents will be able to drop off shoes from Nov. 13 to 19 at locations in the south metro.

Shoes of all types, sizes and styles, in any condition, will be accepted. Those in good condition will be donated and reused, while those in poor condition will be recycled by Minnesota-based Wear Ever. Shoes that are recycled are used to resurface athletic fields and playgrounds, in oil spill cleanup kits, in insulation and can even be made into new shoes.

In 2016, the one-week collection event collected 3.5 tons of shoes, about the weight of six grizzly bears.
