Farm Bureau Holds Annual Sporting Clay Fundraiser

The Minnesota Farm Bureau (MFB) Foundation held its third annual Sporting Clays Tournament at Wild Marsh Sporting Clays in Clear Lake. There were 10 teams participating. The event raised nearly $3,000. Proceeds will be used for programs focused on agricultural education, safety education and leadership development.

Awards were given to the top team, top male and female shooter, and the top youth shooter. The top team was sponsored by the Washington/Ramsey County Farm Bureau. Team members were: Mark Thurmes, Bob Smith, Steve Royer and Corey Ramsden. The top male shooter was Bob Smith who shot a 45/50. Larissa Inderbo was the top female shooter with a 36/50. The top youth shooter was Nick Wiezorek who shot a 41/50.

"We are grateful that we have participants of all ages that want to come out and have fun at an event that supports so many great programs. We had the perfect day," said Ruth Meirick - MFB Foundation director

The Sporting Clays Tournament is one of four main fundraising events for the Foundation. The other MFB Foundation fundraisers include a golf outing held on June 26, the pork chop stand at Farmfest, August 7-9 and the annual auction held at the MFB Annual Meeting on Friday, November 16

This past year the MFB Foundation supported organizations such as: Minnesota 4-H Foundation, Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom, Minnesota Agriculture and Rural Leadership Program, Minnesota Association of Agriculture Educators and the Minnesota FFA Foundation.

The MFB Foundation's mission is to provide opportunities for supporters of agriculture to invest in people and programs that promote agriculture. Examples of some of the programs currently funded include leadership training for farmer leaders, public outreach and education, educational resources for farmers and county Farm Bureaus and more.
