Alfalfa harvest tech & tips 2024

By Scout Nelson

Join the alfalfa harvesting event on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central Time. Hosted by the Carver County Ag Initiatives Team and University of Minnesota Extension at Lano Equipment in Norwood Young America, MN, this event promises to enhance your understanding of alfalfa management.

Scott Newell, an alfalfa outreach specialist from the University of Wisconsin, will lead a session on optimal alfalfa harvest practices aimed at enhancing forage quality and reducing losses. His expertise will provide valuable insights for improving your alfalfa yields and handling.

Lano Equipment will also play a significant role, demonstrating a variety of equipment crucial for efficient alfalfa harvesting. Attendees will have the opportunity to see firsthand how disc bines, conditioners, windrow mergers, HD rakes, rotary rakes, tedders, and silage balers operate. These demonstrations will cover everything from adjustments for peak performance to road safety and proper storage solutions.

The event is open to all and requires no registration, making it easily accessible for anyone interested in agricultural advancements. A complimentary lunch will be provided by the Carver County Ag Initiatives Team and Carver County Extension, fostering a community atmosphere.

For those requiring special accommodations, the University of Minnesota Extension is dedicated to ensuring accessibility for all attendees. Please contact Colleen Carlson at 952-466-5300 two weeks prior to the event to arrange for necessary services.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from the experts, view cutting-edge agricultural equipment, and connect with fellow farmers and ag professionals.
