CAWT Training Dates Released for 2026

By Scout Nelson

Several recertification opportunities are announced for Commercial Animal Waste Technicians in Minnesota for 2026. These training sessions support professionals who must maintain their Commercial Animal Waste Technician licensure. The program helps ensure manure application follows state nutrient management and environmental protection standards.

A total of five in-person workshops and one online training option are available. The in-person sessions are held at locations across the state to improve accessibility and participation. These workshops provide hands on learning and allow participants to review current rules and best practices related to animal waste application.

In person, recertification sessions take place in Sauk Centre on Jan. 28, during the Pork Congress in Mankato on Feb. 10, in Hutchinson on Feb. 18, in Slayton on Mar. 4, and at FarmFest in Redwood County on Aug. 6. These locations are selected to provide convenient access for participants throughout Minnesota.

An online recertification course is also offered for those who prefer remote learning or cannot attend an in-person workshop. The online course is available from June 1 through Oct. 31, 2026. This flexible option allows participants to complete the required training on their own schedule.

All required training must be completed by Nov. 1 to qualify for recertification. This requirement applies to continued licensure through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. The recertification process helps ensure that commercial animal waste application is completed responsibly and in compliance with state regulations.

The registration fee is set at $20 for both in-person and online training options. For in person workshops, payment is collected at the door and can be made by cash, credit card, or check payable to University of Minnesota Extension. Participants are encouraged to register in advance using the official registration link.

Those with licensing questions are directed to contact the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, while course related questions are handled by Extension staff. Additional nutrient management resources, including podcasts, newsletters, and online education tools, are available to support continued learning and professional development.
