Farming Experts Gather for Field Learning

Farming Experts Gather for Field Learning

By Scout Nelson

The Sand Plain Research Farm Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Central Time. The event will be held at Sand Plain Research Farm, located at 15003 157th St. SE, Becker, Minnesota.

This field day will bring together irrigators, industry professionals, university researchers, and government staff to explore the latest advances in crop science and farming practices. The event focuses on helping people understand and apply modern techniques in precision irrigation and nutrient management.

Key topics will include advanced irrigation systems, nitrogen use efficiency, potato breeding techniques, pest and disease control, and enhanced efficiency of fertilizers. These insights aim to support improved crop health and sustainable practices across irrigated farming systems.

Experts will present research and demonstrate how these practices are being used in real-world farm settings. This is an excellent opportunity for attendees to ask questions and learn how they can apply similar methods in their own operations or research.

Dinner will be provided at no cost to attendees, making it both an informative and enjoyable evening for those in the agricultural field.

Registration is required to attend the event. Interested individuals are encouraged to register early to reserve their spot. This ensures a smooth experience and helps organizers prepare.

For more information or to register, contact Timothy Gieseke at tgieseke@umn.edu or 507-766-9495, or Vasudha Sharma at vasudha@umn.edu.

The event promises to deliver valuable knowledge and networking opportunities for anyone interested in irrigation, crop management, or agricultural research.
