Are Japanese beetles wreaking havoc on your garden? Extension entomologist Vera Krishik and her team are conducting important research to eradicate these pests from Minnesota, and they need your help.
By collecting Japanese beetle grubs before they emerge as adult beetles, Minnesota can make progress towards a beetle-free state.
Identifying Japanese beetle grubs is easier than you might think. If you notice dead grass that pulls away effortlessly, it could be a sign of their presence. If you spot these grubs or know of any locations where they might be found, the research team is eager to collect them.
To contribute to this vital research, please reach out to Vera Krishik at krisc001@umn.edu. Her team will make arrangements to visit your location, remove the grubs, and restore the area by back-filling with soil and turf.
The team takes pride in leaving your space tidy and clean, and they can even help with overseeding if desired. Additionally, they are more than willing to provide you with valuable insights into best management practices for your yard.
Let's work together to protect our gardens from the destructive Japanese beetles. Join the initiative and be a part of the solution by helping to eliminate these pests from our beloved Minnesota landscapes.
