The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is now accepting applications for its Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) Crop Research Grant Program. This program aims to support applied research that enhances the quality, quantity, or value of agricultural products within Minnesota's crop industry. Eligible projects must demonstrate near-term benefits for the state’s farmers and the broader economy, with an expected impact within three to seven years.
Special consideration will be given to projects that focus on crops with limited research funding, as well as those that include outreach efforts to involve or inform farmers and rural communities with fewer economic opportunities. Applicants must submit an outreach plan describing how the research results will be available to the public.
The grant is open to any Minnesota-based organization, individual, business, or research entity with agricultural research capabilities. Approximately $1.2 million in total funding will be awarded through this program, with a maximum grant of $250,000 per proposal. Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. Central Time on October 29, 2024.
To access the full program details and apply, visit the MDA website. This grant is part of the broader AGRI Program, which provides funding to support Minnesota's agricultural and renewable energy sectors.
This initiative offers a valuable opportunity for researchers and businesses to contribute to the growth and sustainability of Minnesota’s agricultural industry, benefiting both the state’s economy and its farming communities.
