Minnesota Ag Field School Features Expert-Led Sessions

The University of Minnesota will host the 2026 Field School for Ag Professionals on July 29-30 at the University of Minnesota Agriculture Experiment Station in St. Paul.  

The two-day event is designed for agronomists, crop consultants, seed dealers, crop protection professionals, Extension educators, government personnel and summer field scouts. Participants will receive hands-on training and practical field experience through interactive learning sessions.

Day one will focus on agronomy, entomology, weed science and soil science fundamentals. Topics include herbicide modes of action, crop injury symptoms, corn and soybean growth and development, insect pest management, soybean cyst nematode management and planter setup techniques. Attendees can earn six Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) continuing education units (CEUs).

On day two, participants can select from a variety of advanced sessions covering weed identification, crop diagnostics, corn stand establishment, small grain development, insect scouting, cover crops, sprayer technology, soil conservation and commercial recertification. Up to six sessions may be attended, offering an additional six CCA CEUs.

Registration is open through July 24 at $349 for both days or $199 for one day, with Commercial/Noncommercial Pesticide Applicator Recertification (Categories A and C) available for an additional $50 with the two-day option.
