Minnesota farm prices down from last year

The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service report shows Minnesota farmers earned less for their crops and milk in April 2024 compared to recent periods. Corn prices averaged $4.22 per bushel, down slightly from March and significantly lower than April 2023.

Soybeans followed a similar trend, averaging $11.20 per bushel in April, a decrease from both the previous month and April 2023.

Spring wheat prices also declined in April, reaching $6.20 per bushel. This represents a drop from March and a substantial decrease compared to last year.

Milk prices followed the downward trend, averaging $19.40 per hundredweight (cwt) in April. This is lower than both March 2024 and April 2023.

Hay prices showed some variation in April. The average price for all hay increased slightly from March to $155.00 per ton. Compared to April 2023, all hay prices were lower.

Alfalfa hay followed a similar pattern, with a rise from March but a decrease year-over-year. Other hay prices also increased slightly compared to March but remained lower than April 2023.
