The University of Minnesota Extension, together with the Minnesota Agricultural Water Resource Center, will host the Nitrogen Minnesota's Grand Challenge and Compelling Opportunity Conference on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Time at the Holiday Inn and Suites in St Cloud Minnesota. The conference is designed to focus entirely on nitrogen, which is one of the most important and valuable inputs in crop production. It aims to provide high quality research-based information for agricultural professional producers, and anyone interested in environmental stewardship.
Topics covered during the day will include nitrogen management strategies for crop production efficiency, soil productivity, and water quality protection. Presentations will highlight recent research findings and practical tools that can help improve nutrient use while reducing environmental risks.
Sessions will explore subjects such as the data behind nitrogen rate recommendations to cover crop nutrient release precision irrigation tools for soil organic matter and the role of biological products in nutrient management. The agenda also includes discussions on nitrates in water and Minnesota's nutrient reduction strategy with insights from agencies and universities.
Certified crop advisers can earn continuing education credits in soil and water and nutrient management by attending the conference. This makes the event valuable for professionals seeking to stay current with best management practices and research developments.
The registration cost for the conference is 20 dollars. Participants can choose to attend through offline registration or online access.
