The Midwest Crops Conference is scheduled for January 21-22, 2025, at Stoney Creek Hotel in St. Joseph. This event will bring together agricultural specialists and growers from Minnesota to discuss pressing crop management issues, including soybean diseases and future growing season insights.
One major focus will be red crown rot, a soybean disease confirmed for the first time in Missouri. Experts will detail its potential impact on soybean yields and strategies for effective management. The conference will also cover other fungi causing similar symptoms, including a newly identified one from the 2024 season.
“We’ll also cover additional soybean disease concerns, including the breakdown of soybean resistance to Phytophthora, increasing reports of charcoal rot and Diaporthe, and management of soybean cyst nematode,” said an expert from the University of Missouri Extension. Additional sessions will discuss findings from the Missouri Strip Trial Program, biologicals, and the effects of weather on crop production.
The conference will feature speakers from leading institutions, including the University of Missouri, the University of Nebraska, and Kansas State University. Topics will range from pest and disease management for corn, soybeans, and wheat to crop strategies, nutrient management, and cost-saving techniques.
“This conference offers a comprehensive exploration of current and critical crop topics delivered by leading university agricultural specialists and researchers,” said Denice Ferguson, an agricultural business and policy expert.
Attendees will benefit from sessions led by university experts and industry leaders, gaining actionable insights for the 2025 growing season. For details and registration, visit the conference website.
