The University of Minnesota Extension is hosting an enlightening three-part winter webinar series, aimed at providing cattle owners with key insights into economic risk management. Scheduled on January 17, 31, and February 14, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. CST, these Zoom sessions will delve into various aspects of cattle ownership, ranging from Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) to strategies for maximizing feeder calf revenue.
This informative series is ideal for farmers, 4-H members, agricultural business professionals, and those with an interest in beef cattle. It promises to equip attendees with essential knowledge and tools for safeguarding their operations against economic risks.
The first session on January 17 will focus on market outlook and the intricacies of LRP, featuring expert Charley Fetzer from Commodity and Ingredient Hedging LLC.
The second webinar on January 31, presented by Clint Fischer of Braintrust Ag, will explore the establishment of business entities for risk protection, with a special emphasis on beef cattle.
The final session on February 14, led by UMN Extension’s Dr. Joe Armstrong, will concentrate on strategies for developing robust feeders that consistently attract top market prices.
