Young Leader Program Invites Soybean Growers

Young Leader Program Invites Soybean Growers

By Scout Nelson

The American Soybean Association (ASA) and Corteva Agriscience are encouraging soybean farmers to apply for the 2025-2026 ASA Corteva Agriscience Young Leader Program. This long-running program has been preparing the next generation of industry leaders for more than 40 years.

Phase I of the program will be held December 1–4, 2025, at Corteva’s Global Business Center in Johnston, Iowa. It will continue with Phase II from February 24–27, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, during the annual Commodity Classic Convention and Trade Show.

The Young Leader Program is designed to strengthen leadership and communication skills, provide insights into agriculture trends, and build a strong professional network. Growers of all ages are encouraged to apply, as the program focuses on those new to leadership roles rather than age. Both individuals and couples are eligible, and partners are welcome to participate in all activities.

The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA), ASA’s first state affiliate, has been instrumental in developing leaders through this program. “The support MSGA shows for the Corteva Young Leader program is beyond amazing,” said Brownton farmer Ryan Mackenthun, MSGA vice president and 2019-2020 Young Leader graduate.

“The Corteva Young Leader Program was a great experience,” said Mackenthun. “It gave me a very in-depth look at what being an active leader in various soybean associations looked like. Thanks to this program, I have peers in the agricultural community from across the U.S. and Canada that I chat with often to share farming practices.”

After completion, participants may also have the opportunity to serve as voting at-large directors with MSGA, helping shape the future of soybean farming in Minnesota and beyond. The program is supported by the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council and the soy checkoff.

ASA and Corteva are working with ASA’s 26 state affiliates and the Grain Farmers of Ontario to select top producers. Interested growers must apply by September 12 to be considered.
