The 2025 Minnesota 4-H Annual Volunteer Training, titled Thriving by Design, invites both youth and adult volunteers to participate in a learning experience focused on gathering input, reflecting on needs, and creating meaningful goals for their 4-H clubs and programs.
This training is designed to help leaders strengthen their approach to supporting youth growth and leadership development.
During the training, participants will explore three key areas. First, they will discover various activities that can be used to gather input from group members, ensuring that every voice is heard.
Second, they will learn how to use information and data to set realistic and meaningful goals. Finally, they will explore different indicators of youth thriving, helping leaders better understand how to support positive youth experiences.
This training encourages open communication and collaborative decision making, and the tools shared can be used for planning, brainstorming, and club development. The goal is to create environments where youth feel valued, engaged, and supported in their learning.
The training is open to 4-H club leaders, program volunteers, committee members, and youth in grades 6 and up who want to work alongside adults to shape their 4-H experience. It is also suitable for community members interested in learning more about youth leadership development.
The Minnesota 4-H volunteer systems team is offering two statewide webinar sessions to make participation accessible. The webinars are scheduled for October 8 at 7:30 p.m. and November 10 at 6:30 p.m. Central time. Each session lasts 90 minutes, and participants only need to attend one. Zoom information will be provided after registration.
In addition to webinars, some local 4-H programs may offer optional in-person training. Interested individuals should check with their local 4-H educator for availability.
There is no cost to participate, and registration is completed through an online form. Interpreter services or accommodation may be available upon request as the University of Minnesota Extension remains committed to inclusivity and equal access for all participants.
