Applications Open for Fall Farm Beginnings Class
Minnesota Ag Connection - 02/12/2020

The Farm Beginnings Program works to get more successful farmers on the land and organize for a system in which family farmers can flourish. Family farmers are a force for change. They are caring for the land, strengthening rural communities, running viable farm businesses, and producing food and fiber for their communities. Farm Beginnings provides a wide range of training opportunities, including Farm Dreams, Farm Beginnings, and the Journeyperson Course.

Applications are now open for the Farm Beginnings class that starts in October in Red Wing.

The Farm Beginnings class is a 12-month training session that helps beginning farmers clarify their goals and strengths, establish a strong enterprise plan and start building their operation. The course uses a mix of farmer-led classroom sessions, on-farm tours, and an extensive farmer network.

Farm Beginnings is designed for new and prospective farmers who want to plan a profitable farm business. Students do not need to currently own land, but some farming or production experience is helpful to get the most out of the class.
