The Passport to Agriculture event will take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rice County Fairgrounds in Faribault, Minnesota. This free and interactive event invites people of all ages to explore the world of agriculture in a fun and educational way.
Visitors will journey through different themed areas such as Dairyville, Cropstown, Safety Street, Conservation Meadows, Livestock Lane, and Specialty Shores. Each location teaches something different about farming and food production. At every stop, attendees will collect a passport stamp and enjoy hands-on learning experiences.
Participants can bottle-feed a calf, sit in a tractor cab, and discover how crops are grown, and animals are raised. The event offers a fun way to learn how agriculture is connected to daily life.
A free meal will be provided for all attendees. The event does not require registration, so anyone interested can simply show up and enjoy themselves.
This program is open to everyone who wants to learn more about agriculture. It is designed especially for families, students, and individuals who may not have much experience with farming.
The event is organized by the University of Minnesota Extension. They are committed to creating events that are accessible and inclusive. If accommodation is needed, participants should reach out at least two weeks before the event.
"The Passport to Agriculture event helps people see the many parts of farming," said Ryan Lermon, Extension educator. "There’s something for everyone to enjoy and learn."
Interpreter services may be available if requested in advance. The entire program will be delivered in English. For more details, contact Ryan Lermon at lermo004@umn.edu or 507-330-0447.
