The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) celebrates a successful trade mission to Uzbekistan, culminating in the sale of 150 metric tons (MT) of U.S.-origin soybean meal, reflecting the council's long-term global vision.
Led by MSR&PC directors, including Chair Tom Frisch, the trade mission to Uzbekistan in March 2024 yielded fruitful outcomes, with meetings held with end users, poultry, and dairy farmers to emphasize the advantages of purchasing U.S. soybeans.
Despite the typical peak export season being between July and December, the sale of soybean meal occurred in April, showcasing the charisma and sales skills of MSR&PC directors and highlighting the competitive edge of U.S. soy exports.
The shipment, facilitated by Hansen-Mueller in Kansas City, Mo., and a Wisconsin soy exporter, consists of six cargo containers en route to Uzbekistan. Upon arrival, MSR&PC's in-country staff will ensure the quality and performance of the soybean meal, further solidifying the relationship between Minnesota soy producers and Uzbekistan.
MSR&PC views this sale as a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with Uzbekistan, offering a superior product compared to previous options available in the region.
Director Patrick O'Leary expressed pride in the consistent and high-quality soybeans grown in Minnesota and the U.S., underscoring the positive impact of the soy checkoff program on global trade and agricultural partnerships.
