Ag Trade Gains Strength with NASDA Program

Ag Trade Gains Strength with NASDA Program

By Jamie Martin

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture is advancing US agricultural trade through its America First Trade Promotion Program. The effort focuses on helping producers expand into international markets and improve long-term export success.

A key part of the program includes research to guide trade decisions. Two studies will examine biotechnology regulations and the GSM-102 program. These insights will help shape more effective export strategies in the future.

The Farm2Food Accelerator program is also being expanded to include export training. This will prepare farmers to enter foreign markets and participate in global trade events with greater confidence and knowledge.

Funding support is available to reduce financial challenges for members. Assistance will help cover travel expenses for participation in Tri-National Agricultural Accord activities between 2026 and 2028. This ensures broader access for members who want to engage in international trade efforts.

The program also introduces state-led inbound technical delegations. These delegations are designed to build strong and lasting partnerships with global stakeholders. The focus is on developing market access over time instead of relying on single transactions.

Participants will have opportunities to connect with international officials, researchers, and regulatory groups. These interactions are expected to support immediate export growth and long-term trade expansion.

By allowing states to lead these efforts, while providing support services, NASDA creates a flexible framework for improving US agricultural trade performance and strengthening global competitiveness.
